Obituaries For Wednesday, August 22

Isaac Hoyt Webb, 86 of Cookeville, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital. He was born Thursday, January 7, 1932 in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Claude and Rae Hughey Webb. He was the husband of Mary Hastings Webb. The family has chosen cremation. There are no services scheduled at this time.

Rhonda Kaye Caldwell, 57 of Walling, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Monday, May 1, 1961 in Sparta. She is survived by her husband, Timothy Caldwell of Walling; daughter, Samantha Turner of Memphis; son, B.J. Turner (Pam) of Sparta; grandchildren, Kalie, Jada, Nikki, Skyler, Jonthan, and Cody; great-grandchild, Graceland; father, Charles Coffman of Sparta; and brother, Anthony Coffman of Sparta. She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Rittenberry Coffman. The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

The family of Amy Michelle Lynch, age 33, of Cookeville will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, 2018, 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM at Presley Funeral Home. Amy had chosen to be cremated after the visitation. Amy Michelle Lynch passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville following brief illness. She was born Thursday, June 20, 1985 in Cookeville to William R. Lynch and the late Leanne McBee Lynch. She is survived by: her husband, Matt Cope; sons, Waylon Cope and Sullivan Cope.

A memorial service for Paula Jean Newbold, age 68 of Gainesboro, will be held on Thursday August 23 at Dyer Funeral Home at 5pm. Paula went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2018. Paula was preceded in death by her mother, Zelma King; her son, Joey Jackson; and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Newbold of Gainesboro; father, Paul Brown of NC; son, Scott Jackson (Tina) of Granite City IL; daughters, Kim Dirnberger (Paul) of Fruitland, MO, Nicole Paul of Pulaski, TN, Loretta Gentry (Jason) of Gainesboro, Ricky Newbold of Gainesboro, Alexis Newbold of Gainesboro; two step-sons, Ronald Newbold Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Adam Newbold (Amanda) of Louisville, KY; 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two sisters. Paula was born on July 22, 1950 in E. St. Louis, MO. She lived in Missouri and moved to Gainesboro where she has solely been a homemaker. Paula and Ron have been happily married for 36 years. She loved spending time with family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be truly loved and missed by many friends and family. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until time of the service.

Funeral services for Leonard Freeman Brown, age 85, of Silver Point, will be at 11 a.m. Friday August 24 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will military honors will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Mr. Brown passed away Wednesday morning August 22, 2018 at Bailey Manor in Cookeville. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Funeral services for Mr. Frank Edward Christian, 86, of Gainesboro, will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Clementsville Cemetery in Clay County. He passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro. He was born April 18, 1932, in Jackson County, to the late Frank E. Christian and Ruby Christian. On March 11, 1954, he was married to Lillie Mae Christian, who survives. He was a heavy equipment operator, and a member of the Poston Chapel Community Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Sons and 1 Daughter-in-Law: Billy and Betty Christian, and Floyd Ray Christian; 1 Daughter: Patricia Ann Allen; 1 Grandchild: Sheri Crabtree; 1 Brother: Jimmy Roger Pigg; and 1 Sister: Ruth Bennett. Survivors include his Wife: Lillie Mae Christian of Gainesboro; 2 Sons: Kenneth (Glenda) Christian of Gainesboro, and Scottie Christian of Gainesboro, and fiancée, Linda Stafford; 5 Grandchildren: Valerie Phillips, Kenneth Christian, Angie Christian, Jackie Christian, and Bennie Phillips; 24 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Friday from 9 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Jones Dennis, 84, of Gainesboro, will be held at 3 P.M. on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. She passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born April 15, 1934, in Jackson County, to the late Ben Hooper Jones and Anna Ruth Brown Jones. She was married to the late Baugh Dennis, who passed away December 18, 1996. She served as the Jackson County Court Clerk for 16 years, and later as the receptionist at Gainesboro Elementary School. She was a member of the Flynns Creek Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 Brothers: Houston Jones, Charles Jones, Kelly Jones, and 1 Infant Brother; and 1 Sister: Maudine Gore. Survivors include 1 Son: James Houston (Donna) Dennis of Cookeville; 2 Grandchildren: Amanda (Michael) Smith of Lebanon, and Brandon Dennis of Cookeville; 4 Great Granddaughters: Alaina, Adeline, Anniston, and Averly James; 3 Brothers: Troy (Ruth) Jones, Hubert Jones, and Larry (Cathy) Jones, all of Gainesboro; and 1 Sister: Pauline (Lillard) Holland of Pleasant Shade. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Friday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

Celebration of life for David Joseph Palmer, 35 of Crossville, will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the chapel of Thurman Funeral Home. David passed away on August 21, 2018 in Crossville. David was born in Cleveland, Tennessee to William Palmer and Linda Black on May 5, 1983. He is survived by his wife, Angel Palmer and son, Jaxon Palmer; his parents, William Palmer and Linda Black; In-laws, Teresa and Terry Bailey, Terri Bailey, Heather Bailey and Billy Young, Johnny and Carleen Smith, Brittany Smith and Johnny Smith. Memorial services for Joe Douglas Taylor, 41 of Sparta, will be held at 4pm on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at First Community Church on Taft Church Road with James Hasty officiating. Joe passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born Monday, October 18, 1976 in Sparta. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Taylor of Sparta; son, Ryan Taylor (Nora Passons) of Sparta; daughters, Casey Taylor of Sparta and Sarah Taylor of Sparta; step-son, Jordan Holman of Sparta; step-daughter, Meredith Holman of Sparta; parents, Jerry and Hannah Rose Taylor of Sparta; sister, Jill Trute (Benjamin) of Sparta; nephew, Jacob Trute of Sparta; many aunts, uncles, friends and neighbors also survive. The family will receive friends from 1pm until time of the service at the church.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Diedri “De” Sue Carlin, 73, of Cookeville, will be Saturday September 1 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the River Community Church. De passed away suddenly Friday morning August 17, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born April 22, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Harlan and Donna Seright Updegraff. De was an Registered Nurse for 44 years, having worked at Cookeville Regional Medical Center for eight years prior to retirement in 2016. She was a member of the River Community Church and loved to spend time with her friends, the “River Chicks.” She and husband Jerry were members of the Pistons Car Club. De is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Carlin of Cookeville, who she married December 6, 1980 in Atlanta, IL; daughter, Kimberleigh (Robert) Davis of Huntington Beach, CA; brother, Harlan Updegraff III of Granville; five grandchildren, Luke, Matthew and Andrew Davis of Huntingon Beach, Cody Dodd of Cookeville, and Lyndsay Dodd of Dublin, GA; nieces, Sarah Hollar of Anaheim, CA, Christie Roberts of Colorado Springs, CO, and Amanda (Drew) Lyndsay of Athens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Jerri Lynn Dodd; and step-son, Michael Carlin. Because of De’s love for animals, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter, 2650 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville, TN 38501.

His Wishes Of Cremation Are Being Honored With Inurnment In Indiana At Later Date. Mr. Neal Went Home To Be With The Lord On Sunday, August 19, 2018, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Neal Was Born On March 9, 1943, In New Castle, Indiana, To The Late Clyde W. And Catherine Pierce Neal. Mr. Neal Was Retired From General Motors In Anderson, Indiana, Where He Worked For 42 Years. He Was A Member Of Life Church And Loved His Church Family. He Was A Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, And Friend. He Is Survived By His Wife, Doris Looper Neal Of Livingston, TN; Daughter And Son-In-Law, Lisa C. And Brian Inman Of Indianapolis, IN; Son And Daughter-In-Law, Allen J.
