Obituaries For Tuesday, September 4

Rev. Byron Epps, age 88, of Cookeville, passed away Saturday evening September 3 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete.

A Memorial service for Mr. James E. Dishman will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 6 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening , September 4th starting at 5 PM until service time. The family has chosen cremation at his request. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Jeff Short.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Kenny Norris, age 58, of Livingston will be conducted 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from the Monroe Christian Church. Bro. Steven Barlow will officiate. Kenny passed from this life on Monday morning, August 27, 2018 at his home. He was born May 8, 1960, in Overton County to the late Tommy & Lorene Duty Norris. He was a 1978 graduate of Livingston Academy. Kenny loved music and being with his cousin Pam and his dog, Bella. Kenny leaves his cousin, Pamela Duty Bullington of North Port, FL; several other cousins and aunts and uncles; caretakers, Mike & Amanda Presley. In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Bunch Norris; brothers, Bobby and Billy Norris. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until time of services at 6 p.m., at the Monroe Christian Church.

Funeral services for Steven Wayne Hill, age 61, of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday September 5 at Life Church in Cookeville. Interment will follow in the Hill Family Cemetery in the Cherry Creek Community of Putnam County. Steve entered Heaven Saturday September 1, 2018. He was born April 24, 1957 in Cookeville to the late John (Pill) Holmes Hill and Jean Wilson Hill. Steve worked at Bob’s Body Shop for almost 50 years. He started working for his uncle, Bob Hill, as a teenager. Steve lived an active life that included motorcycles, motocross, crossfit, outdoor cooking, and spending time at the lake. His life revolved around his wife Mitzi, his children, and granddaughters. Steve was willing to help anyone at any time, and any hour. He had a remarkable impact on his motocross family by being a mechanic, motivator, helper, and go to man. He was a dad to many and always there to help them fulfill their dreams. Steve had many children he was a father figure to, but three that he felt extremely close to are his nieces Hillary, Ali, and his cousin Dusty. All of whom he cared for very much. Steve is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mitzi Judd Hill, whom he married May 21, 1983 in Cookeville; two sons, Brody Hill of Cookeville, Chase (Britney) Hill of Knoxville; daughter, Paige Hill (Mason Young) of Cookeville, two sisters, Patty Masters and Renee Priest both of Cookeville; granddaughters, Ava and Aubrey Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Cynthia Hill. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church from 4 – 8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time. Funeral services for Tiffany Lynn Elkins Tayse, 28, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Elkins Family Cemetery in Gainesboro, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Michael Aubrey Kennedy, age 59, of Baxter will be held Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Joe Manuel officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Wednesday, September 5, 2018, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home. Mike passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Lebanon, Tennessee. He was born Saturday, August 1, 1959 in San Antonio, Texas to Jerry Albert Kennedy and Coletta Kay Cox Kennedy. Mike was the long time drummer of George Strait and The Ace In The Hole Band. He has played music his entire life, and has played with so many wonderful musicians throughout the years. He considered The Ace In The Hole Band and George’s crew his brothers and sisters. Mike did so many thing for people, and no one realizes the miles he has traveled to help out friends and family. He was truly a wonderful person and loved by so many. Our hearts will never be the same after the loss of our sweet Mike.

Funeral Services for John Thomas Eller, 72 of Sparta, will be held at 1pm on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Plain View Church of Christ with Earl Alverson and Doug Goff officiating. Burial will follow in Plain View Cemetery. John passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, at NHC Healthcare of Sparta. He was born Thursday, February 28, 1946 in Sparta. He was the son of the late Arthur and Edna Selby Eller. He was a member of the Plain View Church of Christ for 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Eller of Sparta; son, Todd Eller (Kim) of Sparta; granddaughters, Katie Eller and Anabelle Eller; uncle, Herman Eller; Aunt, Jewell Prater; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John David Eller; brother, Gene Eller, and 1 infant sister. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 5pm until 9 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at Plain View Church of Christ on Thursday morning from 11am until time of the service at 1pm.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Elega Stamps Sims, age 90 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, September 7, 2018 in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Sims, age 90 of Sparta, passed away on Tuesday morning September 4, 2018 at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital. Mrs. Sims was born January 4, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to the late Luther & Myrtle Stamps. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Sims, and a foster sister, Elsie Griffin. Survivors include 1 Son: Robert Earl (Tammy) Sims of Sparta; 3 Daughters: Darnell (Gary) Day of Decherd, TN, Earlayne (Jim) Cantrell of Quebeck, TN, and Leanne (Greg) Frasier of Sparta; Sister-in-law: Karin Sims; 6 grandchildren: Angela Howell, Wendy (Gary) Capley, Will (Ashley) Day, Payton (Brandi) Sims, Jessica (Lanny) Wheeler, and Jarred (Annie) Cantrell; 10 Great-Grandchildren: Taylor Cowley, Madelyn & Emma Kate Day, Maddox & Maellie Cantrell, Hadley & Keegan Sims, Arie, Kaden & Chance Wheeler; One Special daughter, always with them, Karen Hyder LaFever; Numerous nieces and nephews; Special Caretaker: Norma Cotton who loved her and took care of her. The family will receive friends Friday from 10am until the time of service. Carl Sims and Dale Sims will officiate the service.

His Wishes Of Cremation Are Being Honored With Inurnment In Indiana At Later Date. Mr. Neal Went Home To Be With The Lord On Sunday, August 19, 2018, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Neal Was Born On March 9, 1943, In New Castle, Indiana, To The Late Clyde W. And Catherine Pierce Neal. Mr. Neal Was Retired From General Motors In Anderson, Indiana, Where He Worked For 42 Years. He Was A Member Of Life Church And Loved His Church Family. He Was A Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, And Friend. He Is Survived By His Wife, Doris Looper Neal Of Livingston, TN; Daughter And Son-In-Law, Lisa C. And Brian Inman Of Indianapolis, IN; Son And Daughter-In-Law, Allen J. Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Vella Maynord Ledbetter, age 97, of Livingston, will be conducted 4 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2018 from the First Baptist Church in Livingston, where her body will lie in repose from 2 p.m. until time of services. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Vella Ledbetter passed from this life on Saturday September 1, 2018. Mrs. Vella leaves her daughters, Carol Coleman and husband Johnny, Sue Cassetty and husband Steve; grandchildren, Candy Coleman-Griffith and husband Will, Kelly Coleman, Christie Hummel and husband Chris, Ammie Seitner and husband Al, Marsha Ledbetter Wyatt, and Amanda Turner and husband Kip; great-grandchildren, Mercer Payne and husband Jessy, Coleman Kelley, Mary Grace Kelley, Claire Coleman, William Griffith, Zachary Seitner, Aiden Wyatt, Ava Seitner, Ashlyn Wyatt, Amelia Turner, and Alexander Turner; great-great-grandchildren, Coleman Cash and Campbell Payne; sister, Margaret Naar and husband Bob; also many nieces and nephews who she loved and cared deeply for. Vella is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Noah Maynord and Idella Glasscock Maynord; her husband, Archie Ledbetter; siblings, Hack Maynord, Barnie Maynord, Veila Oakley, Kenneth Maynord, Hoy Maynord, Liz Upchurch and Ruth Wright; her son, Michael Lewis Ledbetter, Sr.; and her grandchildren, Alex Ray Cassetty and Michael Lewis Ledbetter, Jr. The family will welcome friends at Speck Funeral Home on Friday evening from 4 until 8 p.m.
