Robert Emory Boyer, Age 91, Of The Cumberland Cove Community Of Monterey, Tennessee, Passed Away On Wednesday, March 7, 2018, At Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Boyer Was Born On January 29, 1927, In Painesville, Ohio, To The Late Ellis Emory And Elizabeth Anne Nelson Boyer. Mr. Boyer Was A United States Army Veteran Serving During World War II. He Is Survived By His Wife, Karin Jezierski Boyer Of The Cumberland Cove Community; Son And Daughter-In-Law, Ward And Susana Boyer Of Davie, FL; Grandchildren, Robert And Jacqueline Boyer Of Davie, FL. His Family Is Honoring His Wishes Of Cremation With No Services.
Funeral services for Mrs. Iris Smith Hogg Wheeler, 86, of Granville, will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. She passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. She was born September 24, 1931, in Jackson County, to the late D.R. “Daniel” Smith and Ona Maxwell Smith. On July 18, 2010, she was married to Louis M. Wheeler, who survives. She was a homemaker and UCHRA coordinator, as well as a substitute teacher. She was a member of the Flynns Creek Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her First Husband: Tom Hogg, whom she married on December 3, 1949; 2 Sons: Steve and Danny Hogg; 2 Brothers: Odus Smith and Oral Smith; 1 Sister: Ina Smith; 1 Son-in-Law: Sherril Stafford; and 1 Daughter-in-Law: Vicki Hogg. Survivors include her Husband: Louis M. Wheeler of Granville; 1 Son: Tommy D. Hogg of Gainesboro; 1 Daughter: Linda Hogg Stafford (Ricky) Hix of Livingston; 3 Grandchildren: Cody Stafford, Candice Bilbrey, and Natalie Roberts; 4 Great Grandchildren: Harley, Hayden, Adrianne, and Titus; and 1 Brother: Aaron G. (Betty) Smith of Nashville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Friday from 9 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation by contacting the funeral home.
Funeral services for Oliver Clarence Wolaver, 85 of Sparta, will be held at 11am on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Derreck Coble officiating. Mr. Wolaver passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at his residence in Sparta. Born Saturday, June 11, 1932 in Lewisburg, he was the son of Rob and Sarah Pigg Wolaver. He was the husband of Loyce Smith Wolaver. Mr. Wolaver was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. He loved God, his family, fishing, and gardening. He was also a member of the West Sparta Church of Christ, where he served as Deacon before his health declined. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Loyce Smith Wolaver; sons, Tony (Christine) and Jeff (Jamie); grandchildren, Gavin, Gianna, Michael, Dylan, and Deven; nephews, Bob Dew (Pam) and family; niece, Jacky Newman (Jim) and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Edwina Wolaver. Burial will follow in Elrod Cemetery in Sparta. Family will recieve friends on Thursday, March 8, from 5pm until 8pm at the funeral home. Funeral services for Mr. Avery Hoit Newberry, age 79 of Allons, will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 at 12 Noon from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Hailey’s Grove Cemetery located in Crab Orchard, Cumberland Co. Mr. Newberry passed away on Tuesday evening March 6, 2018 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Newberry was born in Crab Orchard, Cumberland Co. on March 20, 1938 to the late Joseph and Tema (Chambers) Newberry. He is survived by Wife: Ida Newberry; 2 Sons: Avery Newberry, Randy Newberry; 2 Daughters: Julia Kimble, Sheila Johnson; 1 Step Son: Dale Edgar; 1 Step Daughter: Lynda Edgar; 1 Brother: Joseph Newberry. Tom passed from this life on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at his home. Tom was born Friday, October 27, 1939. Funeral services for Mr. James “Jimmy” Albert Fletcher, age 73, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2018 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. A.J. Looper will officiate. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine. Jimmy passed from this life on Wednesday morning, March 7, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Overton County on February 8, 1945 to the late Dwey & Glea Holman Fletcher. Jimmy was a factory worker at a local funiture factory for many years. He loved to fish every chance he had. In his younger years, he enjoyed raising bottle calves and horses. Jimmy was a guy who enjoyed playing tricks on his family and close friends, and he loved a good joke. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mrs. Nadine Gray Fletcher of Livingston; sons, Bruce Fletcher & wife Amy of Livingston, TN & Jason Fletcher of Livingston; grandchildren, Micah & Bryson Fletcher & Ciara Fletcher; sisters, Margaret Johnson of Allons & Imogene Hughes & husband Willie of Allons. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Cleston, William, Doak, Donnie & infant brother Edward Fletcher; & sisters, Betty Staggs, Christene Boles, Charlene Johnson, Lorene Martin & Avadean Overby. Interment will follow at Arlington of Tennessee Cemetery. Mrs. Landis passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born September 4, 1942 in Dayton, OH to the late Robert Nelson and Martha Lorena Dare Somers. Mrs. Landis was a member of Summerfield United Methodist Church. She was formerly employed at Meritor Automotive in Gordonsville and also employed at Oster in Cookeville. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, crochet, reading, and bowling. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Clarence Eugene Landis, who she married October 5, 1963 in Dayton, OH; three daughters, Lisa Landis, Nancy Landis, and Raejean Landis, all of Cookeville; son, Robert Michael Landis and wife Carrie of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Cole Allen Jarmen of Cookeville and Logan Lee Olive Landis of Knoxville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Nelson Somers. A Celebration of Life memorial service honoring the life of Joan “Jo” Britnell will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 12 noon at First United Methodist Church, Cookeville. Visitation will be at the church in the Jeff Wall Hall following the service. Jo died Friday , March 2, 2018 at the age of 88 in Life Care Center of Sparta.
Funeral services for James C. Teeter “Charles”, age 95, of Cookeville will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Morrison officiating. He will be laid to rest at West Cemetery following the service. Charles was promoted to glory on March 6, 2018 at his home in Cookeville surrounded by his family. He was born in Cookeville to the late Wade and Ima (Grimes) Teeter April 9, 1922. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lorelle (Montgomery) Teeter; daughter, Judy Sue (Teeter) Teague; and great-grandson Christian Chance Fletcher. Charles worked and retired from Chrysler in Dayton, Ohio for 30 years. He was also a WWII veteran serving as a medic in the Army. He is survived by his daughter, Carol (Teeter) Fowler (David); his two beautiful sisters, Lucinda Gentry and Doris Vickers; son/grandson, David Teague; grandchildren, Christy Irwin, Karen, Mike, Tyler (Carley), Austin Fletcher, Kelly Teague, Samantha Irwin, Caleb Dalton and Nia Rose Fletcher. Mr. Cartwright was a Pastor and currently employed at Putnam County Sheriff Department . He was the former Chief of police in Algood and also a life long history of security. He Was A Safety Director In The Trucking Business. He Was A United States Airforce Veteran Serving During The Korean War. He Was A Mason Serving Over 70 Years. He Was A Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, And Great Grandfather. He Will Be Greatly Missed.
