A memorial gathering for Joshua Dell Smith, 18 of Sparta, will be held from 4pm until 7pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Joshua passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 in McMinnville. He was born Thursday, August 5, 1999 in Pierre, South Dakota. Survivors include his mother, Cherry Smith of Sparta; grandmother, Sharon Cox of Sparta; brother, Royal Smith of Sparta; and many cousins, neices, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Lou Kent Moore Weaver, 85 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, March 23, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. Betty was born in White County to the late Malcolm and Eunetta Mason Kent on December 11, 1932 and passed from this life on March 18, 2018 at the age of 85. She was the manager at the Goodyear Store for 28-plus years and a member of Central Church of Christ. Betty was very involved in her girls’ activities, including the PTA, band and Girl Scouts. She dedicated her life to her family and her dog, Bubbie. She looked forward to Primetime and the trips. In addition to her parents, Betty is also preceded in death by her husbands George Ellis Moore and Robert Lynn Weaver. Her surviving family includes her Daughters: Teresa & Chris Colby, Cindy & RJ Hickey, Sandy & Allan Clouse, Faye Moore, Kaye Moore, Renee & Kevin Henry; Grandchildren: Rhonda & Paul Welch, Scott & Lisa Hickey, Brandon A. Clouse, Keela Henry, Macie & Travis Howard, Matthew Clouse; Seven Great Grandchildren; One Great, Great Grandchild; Sister: Mary Anna Thompson. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Roy Whited and Christopher Wiles will officiate the service.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 27, 1975 to Vickey Long and Kenny Easterling. She a 1996 Graduate of Livingston Academy. She worked as a cashier. She is survived by her mother, Vickey Grow of Dayton, Ohio; father, Kenny Easterling of Fairborn, Ohio; Adoptive Parents, Roger & Shelia Mick, Baxter, TN; & brothers, Rodney Mick & wife Liz of Fairborn Ohio & Ryan Mick of Baxter, TN. Memorial Services for Dr. Lloyd R. Hassler, 75, of Cookeville will be Friday, March 23, 2018 at 7pm in the Chapel of Presley Funeral Home, with Dr. Charles McCaskey officiating. Mr. Hassler passed away peacefully Tuesday March 20th at Vanderbilt Hospital. He was a native of Byrdstown. After graduating from High School, he attended Tennessee Tech where he earned his bachelor degree in Biology. He served in the United States Army as a second lieutenant and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. He then received his Masters degree in Wildlife Management. He received his Medical degree from the University of Tennessee Memphis. He founded Convenient Care Clinic, the first walk-in clinic in Cookeville. He was active in the National Trappers Association for several years and brought the (NTA) national convention to Cookeville. He was part owner in Stonehaus Winery in Crossville for several years. After retirement, he began farming which was his life-long dream. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Hassler and parents Lloyd and Avis Hassler. He is survived by his sister, Gail Dial and husband James; brother, Ernie Hassler and wife Janice Sells; and nephew, Rob Ring and wife Shannon Terry. The family will receive friends Friday 5pm-7pm at the funeral home. Funeral services for Mr. James H. Hamlet, 83, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County. He passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born May 15, 1934, in Gainesboro, to the late Bill Hamlet and Daffo Hamlet. He was married to Ethel Hamlet, who survives. He was a handyman, and an assembly worker at General Motors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Lonnie Hamlet. He is survived by his Wife: Ethel Hamlet of Gainesboro. Several children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, and sisters also survive. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral services for Martha Elizabeth Glenn Templeton, 88 of Sparta, will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Don Shuster and Robert Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Martha passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, at her residence. Born Friday, October 25, 1929, in Sparta, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Vance Glenn and the late Eunice Sparks Glenn. Mrs. Martha worked in the local banking industry for 34 years. She was an active member of the American Cancer Society, where she served as Treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Better Business Bureau of Professional Women and the Renaissance Club. She was active in the White County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, where she served as Women’s Chair for several years. She was also involved in the local March of Dimes, and she participated in the Central View Community Club. She attended the Quebeck Church of Christ. Martha not only had a passion for each of the causes and clubs she served; she also carried this devotion to her hobbies and interests. She loved attending auctions on a hunt for antiques and glassware with knowledge about worth and an eye for detail. Martha brought this uncontainable spirit to White County High School Basketball games, attending each home game and cheering on her team. No matter where she went, Martha brought her enthusiastic zeal for life with her. Her fervor for life was first and foremost felt by her family and friends, and she always made sure everyone knew her love and devotion for them. Surviving are daughter, Janan Wallace (Jerry) of Sparta; son, Quinn Templeton (Joy) of Quebeck; granddaughter Kendra Wallace of Ashland City; granddaughter Megan Templeton of Rock Island; grandson Joshua Templeton of Quebeck; granddaughter Maria Templeton of Quebeck; sister, Florence St. Thomas of Charlotte, North Carolina; and special friend Gladys Garrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Clifford Templeton; sister, Ellen Officer; brother, Linze Arnold Glenn, and an infant brother. Family will receive friends from 4pm until 8pm on Friday, March 23, 2018, and Saturday from 10am until 2pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mott’s family will receive friends Saturday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. She died Sunday March 18, 2018.

Carolyn passed away Tuesday evening March 20, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born September 18, 1947 in Hazard County, KY to the late Aaron Creech and Maxie Allen. Carolyn was a homemaker and for a period of time a boutique owner in Cookeville. She was an active member of the Assembly of God church for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Kent Fristoe. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Dilts of Lebanon and Michelle Hood of Crossville; sister and brother-in-law, Myra and Eddie Rogers of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Chastity, Ashley, Christian, and Wesley; and five great-grandchildren.
