Obituaries For Thursday, July 26

Sandi Renee Taylor, 47 of Smithville, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born January 12, 1971 in Nashville. She is survived by her husband, Michael Taylor and her son, Zachary Taylor both of Smithville. The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ravannia Sparkman Pepper, age 65 of Baxter, will be conducted 11:00am Friday, July 27, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Pepper passed away on Monday evening July 23, 2018 at Life Care Center of Sparta. Mrs. Pepper was born May 30, 1953 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Arthur & Barbara Shelton Sparkman. She alongside her husband owned the Village Kitchen in Cookeville. Mrs. Pepper enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and she was a member of Oak Hill Church. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a brother Gary Sparkman. Surviving family members include her husband Walter Pepper, Jr.; Son: Chris Sparkman and wife Sherri; Step-children: Bryan Pepper, Megan Veal and husband Ryan; Grandchildren: Gabe Sparkman, Luke Sparkman, Abby Veal, Madison Veal; Brother: Doug Sparkman; Sister: Karen Lewis; Several nieces and a nephew survive. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Chris Sparkman will officiate.

Funeral services for Landon Lee Kernea, 12, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at his residence. He was born April 13, 2006, in Bay County, FL, to Chris Kernea and Fran Kernea. He was a Jackson County school student.

Funeral services for Ms. Barbara Lou Hill Pettit, age 64 of Quebeck, will be conducted 3:00pm Friday, July 27, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Plainview Cemetery in the Cassville Community. Barbara passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at her residence. Barbara was a twin daughter born February 13, 1954 in Putnam County to the late Auman Claston & Frona Louetta Hawkins Hill. She was a care giver for Retire at Home. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by brothers David Hill and Glenn Hill. Surviving family members include her son Matthew (Tiffany) Pettit; Grandchildren: Serenity Pettit, Graclynn Pettit, Joe Dillon Pettit, Brison Parks; Brother: George A. Hill; Six sisters: Andrea Faye Horton, Joanna (Richard) Wood, Betty Carolyn Howell, twin sister Brenda Sue (Jim) Bryant, Connie Joy Beltz, Dorene (Bruce) Howard. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Friday from 1-3:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life for Margaret Kathleen “Kathy” Mathison, 75 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 5:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Friends of Kathy are encouraged to share a word of comfort. Kathy passed from this life peacefully surrounded by her daughters and two life long friends (Patti and Jill) on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Kathy was born Monday, September 21, 1942 in Monroe, Tennessee and was raised by the late Lloyd D. and Ottie (Sweat) Robbins. Kathy was loved by everyone that knew her and impacted the lives of many with the compassion and hospitality she showed. Kathy is survived by: 2 Daughters: Susie Tayes and husband Johnie Keith, Kandi McElhannon; 3 Grandchildren: Richelle (Birk) Hadlock, TJ Birk, and Kyle McElhannon; 3 Great-Grandchildren: Jade Smith, Lane Smith, and Bella Hadlock; 3 Brothers: Ralph and James Robbins, Tommy Crabtree; A host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by: Father of her Children, Kenneth R. Mathison and Great-Grandson, Draven Smith. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Mr. Georgie B. “George” Boles, age 83, of Hilham will be conducted 11 A.M. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Maxwell Chapel Cemetery in Hilham. The family will welcome friends at time of service. Mr. Boles passed from this life on Tuesday evening, July 24, 2018, in Mt. Juliet, TN. He was born Clay County on April 10, 1935, to the late Simpson and Eppie Hawkins Boles. He enjoyed working on his cattle farm and whittling. Mr. George B. “Georgie” Boles leaves his granddaughter Ashley Cook of Lebanon, TN; grandson Jason Boles of Clarksville, TN; and brother Rex Boles of McMinnville.

Celebration of Life for Mrs. Karen Sue Hill, 63 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Heavenly Host Lutheran Church. Karen passed from this life on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at her home in Cookeville. Karen was born Sunday, December 26, 1954 in Roswell, New Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Ann (Orton) Clemons. Karen was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mom, and grandma. Karen is survived by: husband, Jim Hill, sons, Scott Lauer of West Palm Beach, Florida and Eric Lauer of Cookeville, Tennessee, daughters, Sara Murdock of Mohawk , Tennessee and Becky Lauer of Smyrna, Tennessee, 8 grandchildren, sisters, Robin G. Clemons of Cookeville, Tennessee and Jo Reid Nichols of Sebastian, Florida.

Mr. Boles passed from this life on Tuesday evening, July 24, 2018, in Mt. Juliet. He was born Clay County on April 10, 1935, to the late Simpson and Eppie Hawkins Boles. He enjoyed working on his cattle farm and whittling. Mr. George B. “Georgie” Boles leaves his granddaughter Ashley Cook of Lebanon; grandson Jason Boles of Clarksville; and brother Rex Boles of McMinnville. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lurene Boles; son, Edwin Boles; daughter, Diane Boles; brother Clyde Boles; sisters, Lola Sullivan and Lilian Grossi. The family will welcome friends at time of service.

Memorial services for Mr. Bobby G. Stafford, 66, of Gainesboro, will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at the Double Springs Church of Christ in Putnam County. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, at his residence. He was born March 27, 1952, in Jackson County, to Margaret E. Stafford and the late Eugene Stafford. He was married to Kim Stafford, who survives. He was a forklift driver at Nielsen, and a member of the Free State Church of Christ. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Danny Stafford; 1 Step Daughter: Christy Logsdon; and 1 Step Granddaughter: Lydia Logsdon. Survivors include his Wife: Kim Stafford of Gainesboro; 2 Sons: Matt (Amber) Stafford of Cookeville, and Andy (Niki) Stafford of Cookeville; 1 Daughter: Toni Scantland of Cookeville; 14 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren; his Mother: Margaret E. Stafford of Gainesboro, TN; and 1 Sister: Brenda Faye Peek of Gainesboro. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 10 A.M. until time of services.

A memorial service for Rhonda Dennis, age 48 of Sparta, will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Doyle United Methodist Church with John Murphy officiating. Rhonda passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
