Mrs. Alice Sewell, age 92 of Cookeville died Sunday February 11, 2018 at 2 a.m. in Signature Health Care Center in Algood. Arrangements are incomplete.
Mr. Fred Brown, age 77 of Cookeville died Sunday February 11, 2018 at 3:40 p.m. in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete.
Ms. Delma Delk, age 75, Of Monterey, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Ms. Delk was born on January 2, 1943, in Monterey, to the late Fred and Lona Phillips Roberts. Ms. Delk was a nurse. She attended Woodcliff Baptist Church. She is survived by, 2 sons, Paul Delano and Joey Padgett of Monterey, Stacy Franklin and Shannon Padgett of Monterey; 4 grandchildren, Courtney Padgett, Chelsey (and Caleb) Whittaker, Bethany Padgett, and Jordan Padgett; 2 great grandchildren, Aubree and Elias Whittaker; 2 sisters, Marie Whittaker of Monterey, Earlene Roberts of Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorotha Bowman. Her wishes of cremation with no services are being honored.
Mr. Fred Shields, 62 of Cookeville passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Fred Shields of Detroit, MI and Gladys Graham of Livingston. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Darlene Hubbard and Francis Marion Shields; and step-brother, Wayne Graham. He is survived by step-father, Marvin Graham of Livingston; sisters, Billie VanHorn of Texas City, TX, Martha Sponseller of Taylor, MI, and Cheryl Smith of Cookeville; half-sister, Lucia Ann Asaro Riley of Dayton, OH; half-brother, John David Asaro of Dayton, OH; step-brothers, Kerry Graham of Livingston, Floyd Graham of Bowling Green, KY; and step-sister, Rose Graham of Bowling Green, KY; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Also, Betsy Campbell and other close friends. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Presley Funeral Home to help with expenses. There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fara Miller, 64, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 6 P.M. on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The family has chosen cremation. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3 P.M. until time of services. She passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at her residence. She was born September 10, 1953, in Memphis, TN, to John McCue Cox, Jr. and Billie Lovelady Cox. On June 9, 1979, she was married to Dr. James E. Miller, who survives. She was a member of the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church, and taught for 16 years at Tennessee Technological University’s School of Nursing. Survivors include her Husband: Dr. James E. Miller of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Son: Rod (Rachael) Miller of Nashville, TN; 1 Daughter: Lauren Miller of Beverly Hills, CA; her Parents: John McCue Cox, Jr. and Billie Lovelady Cox of Memphis, TN; and 1 Brother: Chris Cox of Memphis, TN.

Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 12, 2018, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Smyrna Church of Christ. Dorothy passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. She was born Saturday, June 10, 1922 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to the late William Bethel Bowman and Belle Carrington Bowman.

Burial will follow in the Boiling Springs Cemetery in Putnam County, TN. She passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. She was born March 28, 1976, in Cookeville, TN, to Albert Luke Whitehead and Norma Jean Peek. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents: Willie J. Peek and Ruby Elise Peek; Paternal Grandparents: Albert Eugene Whitehead and Edna Frances Smith; and 1 Uncle: Marshall Wayne Peek. Survivors include 1 Son: Eric Luke Whitehead of Athens, TN; 4 Daughters: Emily Brook Mohler, Erica Lashay Mohler, and Grace June Corona all of Cookeville, TN and Jody Dianne Corona of Middleton, TN; Parents: Albert Luke Whitehead and Norma Jean Peek; 1 Brother: Jeremy Adam Whitehead of Baxter, TN and 2 Sisters: Chasity Anne Bryant and Ashley Mashay Whitehead, both of Cookeville, TN. A receiving of friends for Roy Luna, age 95 of Cookeville, will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. A Private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Luna, former Putnam County Agriculture Extension Agent, passed peacefully on Saturday February 10, 2018 surrounded by his family. Mr. Luna, a World War II Veteran, had just celebrated his 95the birthday with his family and friends at Heritage Point Assisted Living where he lived at the time of his death. Mr. Luna was born in the Old Zion Community of White County to the late Wiley and Annie (England) Luna on January 19the, 1923. Married to the late Mary Hill Cope of the Big Springs community of White County, he leaves behind two daughters Gretchen Luna Gleaves (Bob) of Cookeville, Gwen Luna Rife (Lou) of Nashville and one son Rogers Luna (Cindy) of Cookeville. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Brandon Rife (Sara), Ashley Clayton (Cody) of Nashville and Ava Luna of Cookeville, along with four great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Cart Nelson Pettit, age 79 of Knoxville, formlerly of White county, will be conducted 1:00pm cst Thursday, February 15, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Jericho Cemetery. Mr. Pettit passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Mr. Pettit was born March 21, 1938 in Doyle, Tennessee to the late Thomas Wayne & Vica Ree McCormick Pettit. He had a work career that spanned from being an electrical engineer to a sales manager for American General Insurance. Nelson was an avid outdoorsmen loving to camp and water ski but his true joy came from serving his church. He was a member of Central Baptist Church Hixson, Tennessee where served as a deacon, youth director and R.A. director. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Cart Pettit and brother Thomas Wayne Pettit. His surviving family includes his wife of nearly 57 years Nancy Nabors Pettit of Knoxville. Son: Roger Nelson Pettit and wife Kristi of Bartlett, TN. Grandchildren: Corey Nelson Pettit of Chicago and Chase Pettit of Bartlett. Sisters: Linda Pettit of Arizona and Nancy Kosee and husband Jerry of Old Hickory. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-7:00pm cst at Hunter Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Gladys P. Mills, age 87, of Cookeville, will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17th in the Chapel of Presley Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Marlow Cemetery, McBroom Branch Rd., Baxter, Tennessee. The family will receive friends Friday, February 16th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of Service at 11:00 a.m. at Presley Funeral Home.
A time of visitation for William Robert “Bobby” Robinson, Jr., age 81 of Sparta, will be held Saturday February 17, 2018 from 2-5:00pm at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home where friends and family can gather to tell stories and celebrate Bobby. At Bobby’s request he will be cremated following the visitation services. Bobby was born September 16, 1946 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late William Robert & Geneva Randolph Robinson. He graduated with a master’s degree from Tennessee Tech University and began a teaching career at Doyle school. After the death of his father, he stopped teaching to help his mother with the family grocery store, Robinson’s Grocery. Bobby was a sports fan, an avid reader, a history buff and a world traveler. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his uncle Charles Robinson and a best friend Ronnie Clark.
