Obituaries For Monday, April 9

Funeral services for Mrs. Inez Hix Ellis Bremer, 86, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community. She passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Woodcrest at the Blakeford in Nashville. She was born July 23, 1931, in Gainesboro, to the late Charlie and Mary Nell Hix. She was married to the late Charles Ellis and Dr. John Paul Bremer. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing and bowling. She loved children. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son: Larry Richard Ellis; and 3 Brothers: Eugene, Joe, and Charles Hix. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Teresa (Warren) Tardy of Brentwood; 1 Granddaughter: Elizabeth Tardy of Franklin; 1 Great – Grandson: Hayden Grogan of Franklin; 2 Sisters: Ann Thompson of Gainesboro and Elizabeth Hooten of Nashville; and 1 Brother-in-law: Bobby (June) Ellis of Hendersonville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Happy Haven Home by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral services Mrs. Leah Ethel Redmon, age 80 of Baxter, will be held Tuesday April 10th at 1:00pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Arlington of Tennessee Cemetery. Pastor Wayne Redmon and Pastor Jim Short will officiate. Mrs. Redmon passed away Saturday evening, April 7th, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 27, 1937 in Statesboro, Georgia to the late Sumpter Lloyd and Rubena Donaldson Johnson. She attended Central High School in Wartburg and later was a graduate of Life Christian University. Ethel was a woman of deep faith who expressed love for others. She was an evangelist with the Body of Christ Ministry. She always saw the positive side of life and of people. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth David Redmon; and by four grandchildren, Teresa Dawn Redmon, Kenneth Wayne Redmon, Jr., Leah Hope Cunningham and William Daniels. She is survived by her adoring family, her sixteen children, Pastor Wayne (Crystal) Redmon, Teresa All Martin, Lille (Gary) Dyke, Jill Newman, Jan (Ricky) Nicholas, Joy (Michael) Mayes, Sandy Cunningham, Dave (Sheila) Redmon, Ricky (Karen) Redmon, Thomas (Kathie) Redmon, Gwen (Barry) Close, Tina Copeland, Chad (Tammy) Redmon, Melody (Keith) Fry, Freddy (Hannah) Redmon and Faith (Monty) Perry; 33 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren and by sister, Yvonne Melhorn. Her family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Funeral services for Mrs. Melinda Gaye Frogge will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 1 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Overton Co. Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Frogge, age 55 of Livingston, passed away in the comfort of her home with her family beside her on Sunday morning, April 8, 2018. Mrs. Melinda Gaye Frogge was born in Gainesboro on June 19, 1962 to the late Earl and Linda (Hammock) Buell. She was a wonderful mother, wife, and sister and a very special aunt. Melinda Gaye was the glue that held the family together. Mrs. Frogge is survived by: Husband: Jackie Frogge of Livingston, whom she was married to for 21 years. 2 Sisters: Nancy Wishon of Monroe, Delilah Blakenship ; 1 Brother: Mike Buell of Livingston; She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews that was considered her babies. She was preceeded in death in addition to her Parents: 1 Brother: Steve Buell. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, April 10, 2018 starting at 6 PM to 9 PM.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fleda Jean Wright Little Davis, age 87 of Sparta, will be conducted 7:00pm Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Green Acres Cemetery in Ermine, Kentucky on Saturday. Mrs. Davis passed away on Saturday April 7, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Davis was born July 15, 1930 in Whitaker, Kentucky to the late William Henry & Ardelia H. Sanders Wright. She was a homemaker extraordinaire loving to quilt, sew and cook, she made special occasion cakes and was a cook at a children’s daycare. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by husbands John Morgan Little and Glen Carlos Davis; son Jacoby Eric Little; siblings Ruthie Mae Wright Privett, Verna Bates, Leslie, Issaac, Junior, Georgie, Luther, Dewey and Melvin Wright. Surviving family members include her children Judy Little Wright, Jerry Little Martin, John Morgan Wright, II, Jeffrey Mitchell Little, James Riley Little; Step-children: Edward Ray Gilley, Barbara Sue Little Ritchie; Sister: Sarah Webb; Brother: Sherman Wright; Fifteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren; Eleven great-grandchildren; Five great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00pm Wednesday at Hunter Funeral Home. Bro. Ricky Scott will officiate.

Funeral services for Ms. Jean Luna Young, age 57 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Hensley Chapel Baptist Church with burial in Young Cemetery. Jean passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage. Jean was born August 24, 1960 in White County to the late Clifford Lee & Margaret Marie Young Luna. She was a garment factory worker and later a quality control specialist. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sons Joe Thomas Brady, II and Randy Young; granddaughter Hannah Marie Hoover; brothers Ricky Luna, Tony Luna and Danny Luna. She loved butterflies and roses. Surviving family members include her fiancé David Kerr; Daughter: Mildred (Mitchell) Blackstone; Son: Timothy (Heather) Young; Sisters: Marilyn Easterwood and Barbara (Johnny) Presley; Sister-in-law: Joenna Luna; Grandsons: Justin Hoover and Alan Hoover; Furbaby: Swirl; A host of nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends after 5:00pm Wednesday at the church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra Raye Roberts Young, age 67, of Monroe will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2018 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will be in the Beaty Cemetery. Mrs. Young passed from this life on Saturday evening, April 8, 2018 from the Livingston Regional Hospital. She was born May 31, 1950 in Pickett County to the late Stanley Ray & Dosha Mae Jolley Roberts. She received her Bachelor Science Degree from Tennessee Tech in 1971. Sandra was a member of the Love Lady Christian Church in Byrdstown, where she was baptised in the Obey River. Sandra taught school for 37 years. Her first school was Monroe, then Independence and retiring from A.H. Roberts. She was known for her cooking and raising the best garden around. Sandra also loved sewing baby blankets for her family and friends. Sandra leaves her loving husband of 47 years, Mr. Jimmy Young of Monroe; daughter, Jennifer Coffey & husband Clyde of Monroe; son, Phillip Young & wife Brooke of Livingston; grandchildren, Barrett & Cason Young & Haleigh Coffey; sisters, Linda Hall & husband Danny of Crossville & Wanell Harmon & husband Bill of Byrdstown. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m.

Celebraton of Life services for Mrs. Joan Belle Morgan Allen, age 78, of Livingston will be conducted 10 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018 from the Grace Baptist Church in Alpine. Bro. John Copeland will officiate. Mrs. Joan Belle Morgan Allen passed away peacefully from this life on Saturday morning, April 7, 2018 from the Overton County Health & Rehab, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Cleveland Ohio, Joan moved to Tennessee at an early age and has been a resident of Livingston for 25 years. Joan enjoyed fishing, gardening, shopping & spending time with family. While a resident at Overton County Health & Rehab, Joan was active in many activities. On August 1, 2017, Joan was voted winner of the best decorated hat contest during Senior Day at the Overton County Fair. She was predeceased by sons, David & Joseph Bohorfoush & Tommy Parrish; brothers, Buddy, Tommy & Jack Morgan & sister, Doris Dickey. Joan leaves her husband, Robert “Bob” Allen of Livingston; daughters, Lisa Bell & Angela Breeding both of Livingston & Helen Vaughn & husband James of Sparta; brother, Robert “Bill” Morgan of Granvill; sisters, Pat Bierman of Lavergne, Carlene Tummins of Dickson, TN; as well as many grandchildren & great grandchildren. The family will welcome friends at the time of services. A graveside service for Sandra Lynn Silcox Braun Carter, 62 of Sparta, will be held at 12pm on Saturday, April 14, 2018 in the Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Derek Wilson officiating. Ms. Carter received her wings as one of gods Angels on April 6th, 2018. After nearly two years of fighting with cancer she was able to finally rest peacefully in the warmth of heaven. Ms. Carter was a loving, active, and devout, grandmother, mother, wife, sister, and daughter. She was an accomplished beautician, butcher’s assistant, and food service manager. Sandy was a beacon of light throughout her community and within her family; always there to lean on for help no matter who needed it, why, or when. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren most of all. From her younger days in Michigan where she enjoyed spending time at the lake with family to her later years in Tennessee where she lovingly provided shelter for stray dogs simply looking for a stable home, she was always more concerned with the happiness of others above her own. She enjoyed gardening, walking on the beaches of Florida, providing support to numerous four legged friends seeking comfort, doing cross word puzzles, and the delightful pitter patter of little grandchildren feet scattering about. Sandy is preceded in heaven by her brother John Michael Silcox, her father Robert Thomas Silcox, her mother Emma Bolt Thomas Silcox Sikes, and her second husband Thomas James Carter. She is survived by her children Michele Renee Braun Ashley (Josh) of Sparta, Robert Duane Braun (Tricia) of Vass, North Carolina, John Michael Braun (Jenny) of Nashville, Travis James Carter (Chevy) of Sparta, and 7 grandchildren. The family will welcome friends from 10am until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
