Rhonda Dennis McGahee, age 48 of Sparta, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Linda Sue Moore, age 71, of Cullman, Alabama, formerly of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, July 21st, 2018 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Whitson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 20, 2018, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Saturday, July 21, 2018, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home. Linda passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at her home in Cullman, Alabama. She was born Friday, March 07, 1947 in Cookeville, Tennessee to the late Hershel B. Pippin and Beulah Mae Flatt Pippin. Linda will always be remembered a a loving mother. She never met a stranger. She worked for many years as a Factory Worker.

Funeral services for Kirby Newberry, age 96 of Cookeville, TN will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:00AM from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Thurman Seber and Dwight Henry officiating. Burial will follow at Howard Cemetery in Putnam County. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 12:00Noon-8:00PM and Saturday 10:00AM till time of the service. Employees of the Putnam County Highway Dept. will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Newberry passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his residence. Kirby Newberry was born on August 2, 1921 in Overton County, TN to the late Benjamin and Rebecca (Ledford) Newberry. He worked in factory work with the shirt factory.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Mr. Bob Melgar, age 71 of Monterey, will be Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Bob passed from this life Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at his home in Monterey. He was born Sunday, June 1, 1947 in New York City, New York, he was the son of the late Robert and Rosalie Melgar. He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Debbie (Gothelf) Melgar of Monterey; 1 Daughter: Star Melgar of Miami, FL; 3 Sons and 2 Daughters-in-law: Bobby and Laura Melgar of Miami, FL, Brandon and Alissa Hegele of Boyton Beach, FL, James Melgar of California; 4 Grandchildren: Robert Melgar, Rory Hegele, Hannah Melgar, Jackson Hegele; 1 Sister and Brother-in-law: Margie and Rene Cruz of Florida. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Daniel Melgar.

Funeral services for Mr. James Marion Linder, age 69, of Livingston will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, July 21, at Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Linder Cemetery. Mr. Linder passed on Monday, July 16, 2018. He was born in Overton County, May 4, 1949 to the late Roy and Ermer Almonrode Linder. He enjoyed coon hunting, playing guitar, and going to church. James leaves his brothers, Sylvester Linder & wife Louise of Livingston, Roger Linder of Livingston, Wayne Linder of Livingston, sisters Martha Crabtree of Livingston, Lois Cantrell and husband J.C. of Livingston, Anna Ogletree of Livingston, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife Cornelia Linder, brothers Ernest Linder, and Edward Linder. The family will welcome friends from 10 A.M. until time of service at 2 P.M. Saturday July 21, 2018 at Speck Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the family by contacting Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Donald “Don” Richmond Walker, age 58 of Sparta, will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, July 21, 2018 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with a Military Honors’ service by the Veterans’ Honor Guard. Don passed away Monday, July 16, 2018. Don was born April 7, 1960 to Hollis Richmond & Mary Frances Poteet Walker. Don was a retired Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and served proudly from 1982-1988. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Sparta Country Club. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Debbie, his two children, Amy (Nathaniel) and Blake (Hannah), and granddaughter, Hannah. Don was the beloved son of parents, Frances and Hollis, his brother, Randy (Myra), his nephews, Ben and Cole, and the many extended family members and close friends who were a large part of his life. The family will have a time of visitation Saturday, July 21, 2018 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home from 10:00am until a Military Honors’ service at 2:00pm by the Veterans’ Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers and other memorial gifts, the family graciously requests that donations be made in Don’s memory to the Veterans’ Honor Guard or to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for repairs to the rectory, a project he wished to support, in care of Hunter Funeral Home PO Box 90, Sparta, TN 38583.

A Celebration of Life for Sandra Jean Wilmoth, age 56 of Livingston, TN, will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2:00PM from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Keith officiating. Burial will follow at West Cemetery in the Fairview Community. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00AM till time of service at Whitson Funeral Home. Mrs. Wilmoth passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at her residence with her family by her side. Sandra Jean Wilmoth was born on January 19, 1962 in Madison, Florida to the late Eugene and Lula Mae (King) Sapp. She worked in Factory work most of her life and Pet Grooming. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a Daughter: Tonya Telisa Kelly.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Maxine Goodpasture, age 93 of the Willow Grove Community will be conducted at 4 P.M. on Saturday, July 21, at Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. Brett Gibbons & Bro. Darren Ford will officiate. Burial will be in the Tuscola Cemetery in Tuscola, Illinois. The family will welcome friends from 1 P.M. until time of service at 4 P.M. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Livingston Funeral Home. Mrs. Goodpasture passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday evening, July 18, 2018, in the comfort of her home. She was born April 14, 1925 in Sandborn, Indiana (Knox County) to the late John Dennis & Thelma Almeda Dollens Anderson. She married the late Gordon Leslie Goodpasture on March 10, 1945 in Washington, IN. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, currently, Martins Chapel of Allons, TN. In 1999 Alice was honored as Volunteer of the year in Douglas County in Illinois, for her work with senior citizens, especially visiting friends in nursing homes, reading with children in the Tuscola reading program, Pacesetters, devoted mother and grandmother who loved word puzzles, flowers, and dancing. During her time spent in Tennessee, she was very active member of Martins Chapel, helping with VBS and with our annual dried apple pie frying event every September. Her annual family reunion was a highlight of the year, and as of 2018 she had attended 64 reunions in a row. Also, she was very active at the Overton County Senior Citizens Center for years, considering herself at times to be an unofficial greeter.

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Michael Honea, 48 of Greensboro, NC and formerly of Cookeville, will be held Saturday July 21 at 4 p.m. at Ebenezer Acres in Cookeville. Michael’s family will receive friends Saturday from 3 p.m. until service time at Ebenezer Acres. Michael passed away Tuesday July 17, 2018 at his home.

Memorial services for Mr. Clifford Ray Chaffin, 62 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at Locust Grove Church of Christ. Clifford died Wednesday July 18, 2019 in Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. Clifford’s family will received friends following services at the church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Overstreet, age 90 of Cookeville and formerly of Monterey, will be held Sunday, July 22 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Clarkrange Cemetery in Fentress County. Margaret died Friday, July 20, 2018 at 3:21 a.m. at her home. Margaret’s family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at Horner Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Betty Jane Roberts Robinson, 87, of Baxter will be Sunday, July 22 at 3 PM from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Baxter. Mrs. Robinson passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at NHC of Cookeville surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 7, 1931 in Putnam County to the late Mansfield and Ulah Lindsey Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward “JIGGS” Robinson. She was a member of Baxter First Church of God. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. She had also been a water aerobics instructor at the Cookeville YMCA. She was a retired associate with Acme Boot Company of Cookeville with 27 years of service. She was fun, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include son, Tommy (April) Robinson, daughter Brenda (Doug) England all of Cookeville, grandchildren: Chris (Michele) Robinson, Tiffany Lawson, Wade England, Matt (Emily) England, Carrie (Erick) Stevenhagen, Clark Robinson, Amber (Jon) Wood, great-grandchildren: Wade England, Jr., Cole Robinson, Jack England, Addison “Addy” England, Abigail Wood, Graham England, Thomas Wood, Carson England, and three great-grandchildren on the way, Baby England (Matt and Emily) and twin babies Stevenhagen (Carrie and Erick), a brother and her best friend, Kenneth Roberts of Baxter and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers. Family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 8 PM and Sunday from 1 PM until service time at 3 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs Mildred Simcox, age 89 of Cookeville will be held Monday, January 23 at 3 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Gaw officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mildred died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 7:53 p.m. in Signature Health Care of Putnam County. Mildred’s family will receive friends Monday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life Party for Adrienne Newson, age 58 of Cookeville, will be held at the family home on Monday, July 23, 2018. Visitation will be from 4-6pm, followed by a service at 6pm. Business casual attire. Please no black, as Adrienne was a colorful person. She was born in Dublin, Ireland on September 13, 1960. Adrienne is preceded in death by her parents, Angela and Richard Keane, and her brother, Neil Keane. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Richard Newson, and two children, Alana and Colm Newson. Celebration of Life for Mrs. Karen Sue Hill, 63 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Heavenly Host Lutheran Church. Karen passed from this life on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at her home in Cookeville. Karen was born Sunday, December 26, 1954 in Roswell, New Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Ann (Orton) Clemons. Karen was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mom, and grandma. Karen is survived by: husband, Jim Hill, sons, Scott Lauer of West Palm Beach, Florida and Eric Lauer of Cookeville, Tennessee, daughters, Sara Murdock of Mohawk , Tennessee and Becky Lauer of Smyrna, Tennessee, 8 grandchildren, sisters, Robin G. Clemons of Cookeville, Tennessee and Jo Reid Nichols of Sebastian, Florida.
