Reels No Longer A Candidate For Monterey Mayor

Monterey Alderman J.J. Reels will no longer be running for mayor of the town.

Reels said Wednesday morning that some health concerns arose that necessitate the need to withdraw from the election. Reels had declared his candidacy last week.

He says he will stay engaged with the city with an eye towards the 2020 election.

The decision leaves current Mayor Bill Wiggins as the only candidate for mayor of Monterey at this point.
