Red Cross Assisting Family After Saturday Night Fire In Monterey

A Monterey family that lost their home to a Saturday night fire continues to be assisted by the American Red Cross today.

Red Cross Disaster Program Manager Todd Griffen said folks can help out the McCloud family by giving cash to a Go Fund Me account that’s been set up.

“That way they can buy the exact things that they need and the quantities, types, and brands that they need,” Griffen said. “After a fire like this, the biggest biggest cost is finding a place to rent and coming up with another deposit.”

Griffen also recommends giving gift cards to the family.

The fire at the family’s North Chestnut Street home broke out around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. The investigation remains ongoing, but Monterey Fire Chief Kevin Peters said an electrical issue is likely the cause of the blaze.

You can donate money to the McCloud family by visiting their gofundeme account.
