Recycled bowling pins are being auctioned to help at-risk kids in Cumberland County.
Dogwood Exchange Owner Angela Witzel specializes in reclaimed creations and is hosting an auction for Kids on the Rise, through the Dogwood Exchange Facebook Page.
Witzel said starting bright and early at 8:00 AM Friday, people can start bidding on these bowling pins. However, the designs are all original thanks to the Cumberland County Wood Turners.
“We’ve got two lamps, we’ve got a nod to The Beatles, we’ve got a yellow submarine, we’ve got some book ends, we’ve got a vase that the top unscrews, that you could hide stuff in it, we’ve got candle holders,” Witzel said.
Witzel said she got these pins and gave a challenge to the Cumberland County Wood Turners. Who responded by giving back to a younger generation.
“I went to a meeting last week and the majority of the adults are like, 60’s and 70’s, they’re older people who do this because they love it,” Witzel said.
Also working to give back to the next generation, Kids on the Rise is a big brother and big sister style mentoring program in Crossville. Due to COVID-19, Kids on the Rise had to cancel their Blue Jean Ball. Which is their biggest fundraiser of the year.
Witzel said the auction will go until Tuesday, September 8th at 5:00 PM.
