Pyles Pleads Guilty To 2014 Double Homicide

Joshua Pyles will die in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of first degree murder Friday.

Pyles received a 51-year-sentence for both murder charges. He also received an 18-year-sentence for the charge of especially aggravated robbery.

He will not be eligible for parole until at least 70 years.

Pyles shot and killed Dannie and Cody Dowdy at their Pickett County business in 2014. Authorities say Pyles entered the Sugar Shack and opened fire before taking $400 from the cash register.

According to TBI agents, Pyles stated that the motive was robbery after his son became ill and the family was having other financial difficulties.
