Putnam County middle school students have their art on display at CPAC.
Upperman Middle School Art Teacher Janis Nunnally said all the middle school art teachers are bringing student’s work to be displayed until April 24. Nunnally said there will be 3D art, paint and pencil on display from these young artists.
“I think it’s very special to them, I mean some people were surprised, I try to take as much as I can in my space allowed,” Nunnally said. “They do really have a sense of joy and pride that their work was selected.”
Nunnally said she and her students worked to create art outside of CPAC. She said this highlights the sacrifice medical workers have made over the last year.
“They were thanking the medical people for how they’ve taken care of us during this pandemic,” Nunnally said. “So we’re going to eventually take these to the hospital, the health department. But I have them facing out so you know there’s art at the CPAC. So if people drive by you can look up and see them.”
Nunnally said the reception on April 6 is one of the things students look forward to the most. The reception is from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, with masks being required for anyone in attendence.
“They usually enjoy the reception, this year we’re not having food,” Nunnally said. “But we’re going to mingle with the teachers and take some pictures as we can. So it’s kind of a fun thing to bring their parents to show it off.”
Nunnally said this student art exhibition has been going on for 17 years. The students art will be on display in the CPAC lobby during regular business hours.
