Putnam County Manager of Accounts and Budgets Debby Francis has put here final budget in the books.
Putnam County Commissioners approved the new fiscal year budget Monday night. Francis said since the budget was status-quo because of COVID-19 with no big adjustments, she did not play a big part as years in the past.
“I really enjoyed working with the budget committees throughout the years,” Francis said. “It is bitter sweet I did not get to get involved in it this year like I have in the past, but it is a good budget, and the mayor did a great job.”
Francis worked on her first budget for Putnam County in 1992. Francis said she will miss the friendships with her colleagues the most after retiring this November.
“I am going to miss my co-workers,” Francis said. “I am going to miss the people in the other offices that have been really special to me and have became friends to me over the years.”
Francis said the hardest part of passing a budget is compiling each department’s numbers.
“The toughest part is getting everyone’s budget to me,” Francis said. “All the departments. supervisors, schools and roads and getting them compiled in a budget book for the budget committee and get ready for the meetings.”
Francis said once budget meetings start, the rest of the fiscal year includes small adjustments.
