Putnam Teachers Return For In-Service

Putnam County School’s In-service day will take place virtually Tuesday.

Although teachers across the county will be separated, they will be together in learning how best to handle upcoming COVID-19 situations. School Director Corby King said this is the first step for the school year.

“All of the teachers will be in their individual schools where they can socially distance, they can spread out rather than having all 850 packed into the auditorium at Prescott,” King said.

If there are any COVID-19 outbreaks, King said there are plans in place teachers and faculty members will know, which includes barring access to a portion of the school building if several children or teachers contract the virus.

“You know, really, we’re preparing as much as we can,” King said. “I mean there’s still a lot of changes that are occurring, and we’re trying to be as ready as we can for August 3.”

The virtual event will include a short speech from King, guest speaker Anthony Kim, and guidelines from principals and faculty.
