Putnam Sheriff’s Office 6th Year Of Clean Audits From State

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has earned another clean audit making six years in a row with no findings.

Sheriff Eddie Farris said he considers the  the county has one of the larger offices in the state.

“As Sheriff, I would like to take the credit, but I will not,” Farris said. “The credit goes to all the good employees here at the Sheriff’s Office that do their job and do it well.”

Farris said being good stewards of tax money and having organized records make the milestone possible. The State Comptroller’s Office reviews all financial aspects as well as operations of the office each year.

“We try to always stay within our budget, but more often than not, we’re turning money back in to the county out of our budget,” Farris said. “We take in about $2 million per year.”

Farris said, “This truly is the best place to be sheriff in the state of Tennessee. It’s an honor to have that position, and I certainly appreciate the citizens in this county instilling faith in me.”
