Putnam Sheriff Asking For Help In Preventing Auto Theft Crime

A recent auto theft incident has Putnam Sheriff Eddie Farris asking citizens to help prevent future cases.

Farris said that all it takes is a little common sense and caution. He said making sure you don’t leave valuables in your car, locking your car doors, and other steps can go a long way in preventing incidents.

“I just thought this was maybe something we need to mention and refresh the citizens,” Farris said. “Especially with warmer weather people are out more, including people who are up to mischief and no good and want to commit a crime. So just keep that in the loop and keep everybody notified especially law enforcement.”

Farris said to help law enforcement, it’s a good idea to make sure the area around your house is kept safe. He said things like updating lights, using security cameras, and keeping bushes trimmed back.

Farris said that the best approach to these crimes is prevention, not reaction.
