State TCAP numbers are in with elementary students improving ELA scores statewide. Math numbers also improved.
Director of Schools Corby King said his system has only preliminary data from the state. He said that shows similar trends in Putnam.
“It looks good so far that our students did move forward last year and that we’re recovering from the pandemic,” King said. “We still have learning loss and we still have gaps that we’ve had for years and we know that. And it’s going to take time to make improvements, but we are moving in the right direction and that’s encouraging.”
King said that the most recent guidance he’s received from the state indicates they will be able to release full scores near the 4th of July. He said that they said they should have all of their data so they can release preliminary information by district.
King said that it won’t be full data, with a rating and grading system for the school, but it will be an update of where the school stands.
“Today, I am incredibly proud to be able to share Tennessee’s 2021-22 TCAP assessment results, which demonstrate the hard work of Tennessee’s districts, schools, educators, and families, the leadership of Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee General Assembly—and the incredible impacts all of these efforts have had on improving academic outcomes for students,” State Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn said. “Tennessee’s gains to meet or exceed pre-pandemic proficiency levels were hard-earned, and now is the time to ensure we continue the policies, practices and programs that are supporting academic achievement.”
