Putnam Schools Purchase New Cafeteria Management System

A new county-wide school nutrition software will be implemented at all Putnam County Schools next year.

Deputy Director Tim Martin said the new system will streamline data collecting for nutrition staff.

“The added benefit will be that the managers will be able to keep and notice trends and see what kind of things are selling better,” Martin said. “They can do that now, but they have to do it themselves on paper.”

The Board of Education purchased the software for some $20,000. Martin said nutrition staff will use the data to create menus for each school once enough feedback is collected. Martin said the system also oversees transactions.

“This is basically an upgrade, but we might be able to look at some new systems” Martin said.

Martin said the school system periodically bids out the software. Only one interested bidder submitted a quote during the request process.
