Putnam County Schools’ population continues to grow.
Attendance Supervisor Corby King said county schools have had a 1-percent growth over last year.
“Things have kind of leveled out, we are at 11,498 students which is still an increase over last school year,” King said.
Enrollment traditionally changes at the very beginning of the year, eventually becoming stable after Labor Day, King said. This year, the growth wasn’t limited to one area.
“That’s district-wide, we had large growth in two of our middle schools, Upperman Middle School saw the largest growth, they’re up about 54 students over where they were last year, but then Avery Trace is also up 40 students,” King said.
Last year, Putnam County Schools’ population grew steadily throughout the school year. King said it’s too early to tell if that will happen again.
