Putnam County Director of Schools Corby King wants the two week fall break to give teachers and students a chance to recharge after a demanding first nine weeks.
“Teachers especially, this fall break is huge,” King said. “This nine weeks have been incredibly stressful and incredibly draining. But also, for the students. Both in looking for some normalcy. So the fact that we have been able to stay in school for the entire nine weeks, we have settled in a routine, but people need a break.”
King said to be mindful of your wellness when returning to school, especially if you traveled. King said any student feeling unwell after break should continue to stay home.
“After fall break, it will be important for us and the school system to continue to take precautions,” King said. “If someone in your family is sick, if you do travel and you come back and you are sick or even if you are home. Please stay home.”
Putnam County Schools return on Oct. 19th. King said all school buildings will be cleaned while empty.
