Putnam School System Evaluating Facilities For Returning Students

Putnam County School System preparing for your students to return to class.

Prescott South Middle School Principal Tera Brooks said the preparation starts the week before holiday break. Brooks said the campus has a maintenance tech that evaluates facilities for touch-ups.

“We went around the building and looked around while the students were still there and looked around at areas that might need to be worked on or fixed,” Brooks said. “We even went through just today and pointed out areas that need to be worked on.”

Brooks said the improvements are usually minor such as new lights, painting or bathroom dispenser replacements. Brooks said sometimes it needs more attention like a heating and cooling issue that is currently being addressed at a wing of the school.

Unlike other schools, Brooks said the cold temperatures during the break did not cause additional damage. Brooks said she walked through the school that week to make sure the building was okay.

As for the students and staff that return Wednesday, Brooks said she will host a morning meeting to set the tone. Brooks said she will review the year’s expectations and goals for teachers to implement at the classroom level.

“That will be how we start off the week for the next three days,” Brooks said. “Just a couple of remainders in the morning and teachers will remind them in the mornings as they go to their different classes.”
