Putnam County School officials will be contacting parents next week who did not respond to the system about in-classroom or online learning.
Director of Schools Corby King said Friday’s count showed about 80 percent of the system’s families had responded by Thursday’s 5pm deadline. Of those, roughly 80 percent had responded they wanted their children in school.
King said the survey was important because it helped teachers prepare for what they would have in their classroom. It also gives parents and students the chance to prepare for the online element. That will look much different than the spring at-home learning.
The first full day of school comes one week from Monday. King said it will be impossible to truly gauge classroom and online numbers until students show up.
