Putnam County School Board approved two companies to bid for the construction of the new Park View School.
Director Corby King told the School Board Thursday night that R.G. Anderson and American Contractors submitted the best proposals.
“For this project, we asked companies and contractors to submit proposals,” King said. “We wanted to prequalify the contractors who were allowed to bid on this project.”
King said that they had five groups attend the prequalify meeting, but that the other three groups were unable to get the labor for the work. School Board Chair Lynn McHenry said that both groups were graded very high and that they would accept either to bid the project.
“We have worked before with R.G. Anderson successfully on a project at Upperman Middle School,” King said. “We know the company well, we feel very comfortable with them. American Contractors has been around for a long time, we’ve not worked with them but Mr. Magura our Maintenance Supervisor has worked with them on projects in the past, and is also a company with solid recommendations that we feel very good about. So either contractor that receives the award, we’re going to feel good about the project.”
Park View School will serve K-8 students in the southern part of Putnam County. It will, in part, replacing the Park View school in the center of Cookeville.
