A Putnam County resident died in a house fire Thursday night off Walnut Road.
Both the Putnam County and Baxter Fire Departments responded to the fire around 9:20pm. The report included a victim inside the building. A crew entered the house through a window and removed the individual from the fire.
After medical personnel initiated life saving procedures, the patient regained a pulse and was stabilized for transport to Cookeville Regional Medical Center. However, the patient passed away in transit.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called to assist with the case. Due to the investigation, the identity of the victim has not been released.
