Rescue crews from multiple counties are working to rescue about 40 people trapped at Cummins Falls.
“Due to the recent storm we had the water has risen rapidly and they’re needing help getting back to a safe area,” Smith said.
Crews are working to rescue two separate groups that were stranded around the falls area and on a small island down stream . Officials say the group totals about 40 people. Smith said one person was pulled from the water, but it’s not known if that person suffered any injuries.
Earlier today Jackson County requested mutual aid from Putnam, Smith, and White County.
The Jackson County E 911 Facebook page did report a flash flood at Cummins Falls State Park earlier today
