A national nonprofit that places remembrance wreaths on veteran graves will be coming to Cookeville this holiday season.
Putnam County joining forces with local veterans and businesses to bring Wreaths Across America to Cookeville on December 17th. About 500 wreaths will be placed at the Cookeville Cemetery for each known veteran.
“We need help from our community in order to make this a special day,” Mayor Randy Porter said. “If this year is successful, we plan to expand the program to other cemeteries as soon as next year.”
A wreath-placing ceremony will be held at city cemetery at 12:00 p.m. Each wreath is $15 and can be purchased online by visiting the non-profits web page.
