If transportation is a hindrance for you to vote on Super Tuesday, local parties and volunteers are willing to help.
The Republican and Democratic Parties are providing car rides to the polls. Democrat Chairman Amos Powers said it’s free and all you have to do is call.
“This is for anyone who needs a ride to the polls. We want to make sure that everyone gets out and votes. Of course, as a Democrat, we would like for them to vote for the Democrats on the ballot, but we want them to get out and exercise their right to vote,” Powers said.
The car rides are volunteer based, and will be available from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Powers said all they need to know is your location and precinct you’re voting in.
Republican Chairwoman Cindy Schueman said she’s the only one available to give transportation to anyone needing a ride to vote. She said she’s passionate to give people a chance to vote.
“The Primaries are who puts people on the ballot. I also believe it’s a civic responsibility, I don’t think it’s any different than having automobile insurance if you’re driving an automobile. The citizens need to take control, and the only way we can do that with our government is through voting,” Schueman said.
Scheuman said she’s available from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. She added the Republican party will host a meeting at 6:00 p.m. that evening.
