Putnam County looking to add two roof repairs to next year’s budget for the Silver Point Community Center and the Monterey Emergency Services building.
Mayor Randy Porter said they have been on a roof replacement schedule since 2014. He said a third-party company came in and scored the roofs based on how badly they needed to be replaced and when that needed to occur.
“I hate doing emergency jobs and that’s going to happen you’re going to have things break down that you don’t plan on,” Porter said. “But if you have a unit or roof that’s come to its life expectancy we want to make sure that we’re getting to that before causing damage to the building.”
Porter said the county has done a very good job of getting roof repairs completed. He said most of the county buildings and school buildings now have a roof lifespan of about 20-30 years.
Porter said they have most recently finished replacement projects at the Double Springs Community Center and the Maintenance Department’s main building.
