Putnam County’s fair property problems could be solved by the Tennessee State Fair.
Tennessee State Fair and Exposition commissioners reportedly voted 9-0 to explore other cities to host the fair beginning in 2019. Like Putnam County, the current fair site in Nashville is land-locked, with no room for expansion.
Putnam County Executive Randy Porter said he’s interested in the idea.
“I was thinking about what we’re looking at doing, maybe that fits right into our plan, if the state wanted to put in money and help build a facility, we’d have a joint venture with them, then we use it for the rest of the year and it houses the state fair. I think that’s something we’d be interested in looking at,” Porter said.
The Putnam County Commission voted down a measure to buy property in Baxter for the county fair last week.
