Putnam K-9 Unit Aids In Arrest Of Suspected Thief

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Baxter Police caught a suspected side-by-side and truck thief Monday, aided by the K-9 unit.

The suspect allegedly stole the side-by-side from an address on White Cemetery Road, when deputies pursued the suspect they fled. Later, a truck with the side-by-side matching the given description was spotted and the suspect fled again.

That is when K-9 Maggie was dispatched to track and locate the suspect. K-9 Maggie led deputies directly to the suspect at an address on JL McBroom Road and the Old Gainesboro Road area off Highway 56.

This is when the suspect was taken into custody, along with discovering the truck being driven was stolen out of DeKalb County.

Residents and property owners in the Bloomington Springs area are asked to check outbuildings and sheds for any missing items. The suspect is believed to have been involved with several agricultural thefts in that area.
