Putnam County Fire Department responded to an enflamed hay barn on Burgess Falls Road near Williams Lane on Sunday.
Captain Coty Nash said that the owners of the property are out of town. He said that passersby noticed that the barn was on fire and called 911.
Nash said that the cause of the fire is presently unknown and being investigated by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Nash said the extent of the damage was to the structure, the rounded bales of hay inside, and some of the surrounding grass on the property. He said that another captain on the scene had been in contact with the property owners.
