A $214,000 grant will fund the installation of new power cots to 10 of Putnam County’s ambulances.
“What that does is load the cot into the ambulance without the paramedics having to pick it up,” EMS Director Tommy Copeland said. “That saves quite a bit of wear and tear on their backs and arms.”
Copeland said the new cots will hopefully help to reduce workers comp claims and enhance retention and recruitment of employees.
Putnam County will be required to pay $21,000 as part of a match for the grant.
