Putnam Election Comm Checks Machines For August Election

Election machines in Putnam County are ready to be sent to the polling locations.

The election commission evaluated a total of 86 machines Wednesday. Election Administrator Michelle Honeycutt said workers made sure no changes were made to the machines after being locked in a vault since April.

“It’s pretty common,” Honeycutt said. “The only thing they might see is if a seal might not be as tight as it should be. They can tighten it up or replace the seal and at that point they just change the number.”

Honeycutt said 76 of the machines will head out to the precincts on August 3rd. The other 10 will be used for early voting at the election office next week.

In April, a Republican and Democratic machine technician checked the machines. Honeycutt said they reviewed the ballots, voting limits and then, sealed and numbered the machines.

Honeycutt said it is the commission’s job to conduct an inventory before the election.
