Putnam County Sees Slight Decrease in Yearly Building Permits

Putnam County saw a slight decrease in building permits issued during the 2018-2019 fiscal year.

Mayor Randy Porter reports 317 total permits were issued since July 1, 2018, down from a record-setting 339 issued the year prior.

The county ended on a high note for the month of June, issuing 32 total permits with over $4.11 million in construction costs.

For the year, new buildings generated over $42 million in construction costs with 181 new homes being built.

The majority of permits issued came in the summer and spring months of the fiscal year. Less than 20 percent of building permits were issued between November and February generating approximately $7.21 million in construction costs.

The county collected just under $200,000 in construction fees from the building permits during the fiscal year.
