Putnam County Schools To Be Deep Cleaned Over Break

While Putnam County students enjoy spring break next week, officials will be deep cleaning each of the schools and monitoring the coronavirus.

“We’re leaning heavily on our local health officials, both from the health department, the hospital, health-care providers and our nurses,” Interim Director Of Schools Corby King said. “And everything we’re hearing is that families continue to use universal precautions.”

King said that starts with washing your hands and keeping social distance.

Students dealing with sickness, King said, need to stay home.

“That’s going to be difficult as the sinus-allergy season approaches,” King said. “Parents will know the difference. If your child is running a fever, please stay home. If it’s fever for an extended period of time, see your health care provider.”

King said he understands the fear of parents, but he said if schools are open, then it is safe for the overwhelming majority of students.
