Putnam County Schools Offers Online Forms To Improve Efficiency

Putnam County Schools now offers its forms online to increase accessibility and efficiency.

Putnam County School system recently announced that it would be offering all of its back-to-school forms, permission waivers, and assistance program applications online. Communications Director Buddy Pearson said this will ease stress on parents by giving an alternative to constant trips to the school itself.

“Sometimes you go to school and it’s just like ah I forgot to bring this; it can really wear on a parent,” Pearson said. “We’re just trying to make it easier for parents to be able to go on and fill out those forms online.”

Pearson said the online forms have the potential to streamline the administrative process as the school year gets underway. Though, he did say if parents really wanted to they can still go down to the school to fill out physical forms.

Permission waivers and applications for crucial programs like the free breakfast and lunch program will also be offered online. Pearson said the online applications will help the school system collect data on the students it is serving and provide more for them in the future.

“What we want to do is encourage everyone to go on and fill out the lunch forms regardless of whether you qualify for free lunch or not,” Pearson said. “One, it helps show us the demographic, and it also lets us know who’s filling out these forms.”

Pearson said the online forms are still in the early stages of testing, with this year hopefully being the beginning of a new era of quick, easy access. He said the forms will feel familiar even as the means of completing them changes very much.

“Anytime that you are trying to do anything that streamlines the process there might be some bugs in the system that we might have to work out,” Pearson said. “But we have folks who have been going through the process over and over again to try and make it as easy and error-free as possible.”

Pearson said to contact your local school if you have any needs or concerns and to report any issues so that they may be fixed.
