Putnam County Schools will welcome students Monday.
Putnam is the first Upper Cumberland county to return to class after the summer break.
Director of Schools Jerry Boyd said preparation is key.
“We want our students to be in a position and our teachers to be in a position, as soon as we have our first instructional day, the full day especially on Tuesday, we want everyone to be ready and prepared to begin learning,” Boyd said.
Parents should make sure their children get a good night’s sleep Sunday, and breakfast Monday morning.
“In summer sometimes we get off our pattern, our routine, certainly that’s good advice and always if you have the opportunity or if you don’t think you have the opportunity you should have some kind of breakfast and our schools sell breakfast for students every morning if they take advantage of that,” Boyd said.
Putnam County Schools open Monday, but dismiss at 10 a.m. The first full day of instruction is Tuesday.
