Putnam Planning Gives Conditional Approval To Six-Lot Dyer Ridge Project

The Putnam County Regional Planning Commission Tuesday night gave conditional approval to a six-lot subdivision off Dyer Ridge Road.

Debate arose regarding approval for the plat because of an existing cemetery. Putnam County Planning Director Kevin Rush said that state law requires public access to a cemetery.

“You know we could approve it conditional too, let me reach out to Jeff Jones on his opinion on access to that cemetery,” Rush said. “That way we’re not holding up the developer because it’ll have to come back next month anyway for final.”

The Commission will get the Putnam County’s attorney ruling on the cemetery before moving forward. Rush said there also appears to be a dirt issue that could make the final development just five lots.

“There have been many times I’ve seen subdivisions where it looked like you would get 15 lots out of it and get ten,” Rush said. “And others where you’ll think ‘you ain’t gonna get more than three lots out of it,’ and get seven.”

In other business, the commission approved the division of lots 27, 28, and 29 of Westowne Estate Subdivision. Also, a revised tract one of the Phillip Howard Subdivision approved. Preliminary plats for the Mountain Brooke Subdivision, Glenn Oaks, Pippin Estates, and Beechtree Park were approved. The Cane Creek Farms, Brownstone Estate, and Watermark Subdivision preliminary plats were also approved.
