Putnam County Out Of Vaccine, Tuesday Appointments On Hold

The Putnam County Health Department awaits another shipment of vaccines Tuesday to continue its COVID vaccination.

More than a thousand local residents were vaccinated Saturday and Monday before supplies ran out. Local K-12 teachers and seniors over 75 are currently eligible for vaccinations.

The Federal Government is disbursing vaccine to each state. Once it arrives, the State Department of Health sends it to local health departments. Health departments often do not know they will be receiving vaccine until several hours prior.

Those who signed up for Tuesday appointments will be notified about their appointments. Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter said those scheduled for Tuesday appointments should not show up until they receive communication about vaccine arriving.

The Putnam County Health Department has no more appointments available for this week. Go to PutnamCountyTN.Gov to reserve your appointment for next week. You must pre-register to get vaccinated. Residents have been turned away because they did not have an appointment. Vaccines are currently over available for teachers, day care workers and those over 75.

Saturday and Monday vaccinations ran about 50 percent from each group.

Outside Putnam County, contact your county health department for availability of vaccinations for teachers and those over 75. Just as with COVID testing, you do not have to be vaccinated in your home county.
