Putnam County Library Provides Hygiene Kits To Low Income Community

Putnam County Library hygiene kits provide items that low income individuals can’t afford.

Marketing and Outreach Librarian Lexxi Romero said she had set a goal for this year to provide assistance to the low income and un-housed communities. Romero did her research and consulted with community nonprofits.

“And it took me a few months to come up with what I wanted to do,” Romero said. “But with the help of my colleagues I came up with the idea to provide hygiene kits for low income and un-housed people in the community.”

Romero said the kits have a variety of products like soap, shampoo, conditioner, some have a nail file, clippers, comb. She said the library also includes a READS card which is for digital access to the library, to promote literacy.

Romero said they distributed the kits through the Child Advocacy Center, as well as DCS and Genesis House. She said they had them available in the library as well.

“They were gone like the first week and a half,” Romero said.

Romero said they just got a bigger budget for outreach and they plan to provide the kits yearly.

“I would always love help doing this if anyone is willing to help,” Romero said.

Romero said you can reach out through the library web site at PCLibrary.org.
