Putnam County Building Permits Hit Another Record

Call June another record-setting month for Putnam County building permits.

The county set an all-time record with 54 building permits totaling almost $8 million. Of those permits 34 were for single-family residential homes. All three numbers are new records. These numbers reflect construction in the county only, not including the four municipalities.

The previous high was set in April with 40 permits.

County Mayor Randy Porter said only five of the new permits were replacing homes destroyed by the tornado.

For the fiscal year completed Tuesday, more than $49.6 million in new construction was permitted across the county. That also set a new record.
