Putnam County Commissioners approved an interlocal agreement with the city Monday night to build a household hazardous waste site.
“It’s all paid for by the state for us to construct this new building, “County Executive Randy porter said. “IN the past, we only had one time a year at the fairgrounds where you could bring hazardous chemicals to dispose of.”
The goal is to have everything completed by next June.
“We think we will be able to get everything going and have it ready before then,” porter said.
A recently awarded $480,000 grant will help construct the building at the city’s brush site on West Jackson Street.
