Putnam Co. Woman Charged With TennCare Fraud

Local authorities have charged a Putnam County woman with TennCare Fraud.

60-year-old Patricia Simpson is accused of using TennCare benefits to pay for the drugs she planned to smuggle into the Putnam County Jail.

According to the indictment, Simpson gave an unindicted co-conspirator pills identified as Buprenorphine, a medication used to treat opioid addiction, with the intent and purpose that it would be introduced into the Putnam County Jail.  The prescription was obtained through Medicare Part D which is paid for in part by TennCare.

She has been charged with TennCare fraud, conspiracy to introduce contraband in a penal facility and sell or delivery of a controlled substance.
