Putnam Co. Fair Attendance Drops This Year

The Putnam County fair had a lower attendance this year.

A total of 48, 714 people attended the fair this year, which is down 5.6 percent from last year’s attendance.

Fair Board President John Allen said a couple days of bad weather can be blamed for the lower attendance.

“It’s because of the rain and the fact that on most Saturday nights we parked everyone we could park and some people couldn’t get on the fairgrounds,” Allen said. “We are limited with parking. We are landlocked and between the rain and parking limitations on Friday and Saturday nights we just couldn’t get them back to the fair.”

All total the fair brought in $419,000 in revenue and $320,000 of that went back to the local economy.
