Putnam Building Permits Fall In February

Putnam County experienced a slowdown with the number of building permits issued last month.

The county issued 12 permits with 10 of those being for new single-family residential homes.

County Mayor Randy Porter said February tends to be one of the worst months of the year for permits.

“So 10 new homes is pretty good,” Porter said. “February of 2018, there were only 10 permits and 6 of those were for new homes.”

The 12 permits issued last month totaled $2.1 million in estimated construction costs. It was the lowest number of permits issued so far this fiscal year and nine less than last month.

Through the first eight months of the fiscal year, Putnam County has issued 188 permits for $25.6 million in construction costs. Single-family residential homes made up 115 of those permits.
