The Putnam County Budget Committee voted last night to send the new fiscal year budget to the commissioners for approval.
The school system budget will be sent separately after Thursday night’s school board meeting. Budget Committee Chair Ben Rogers said the committee felt comfortable with Randy Porter’s status quo budget and had no need to further breakdown the expenses.
The committee will meet again July 6 to consider any final changes.
Rogers said the full commissioners board will take up the budget in late July. The new fiscal year budget reduced spending from last year. It keeps revenue flat and limits the number of capital projects the county will undertake.
Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter said last week that he believed the county should continue to take things slowly even though April sales tax numbers came in better than expected.
