The Putnam County Board of Education has turned down an opportunity to purchase a 1.01 acre tract of land adjacent to the current Central Office on East Spring Street.
During a recent board meeting Director of Schools Jerry Boyd said other land priorities are more important.
“We do have a lot of other needs and we certainly want to focus our attention on securing property with our long range intents on an elementary school and even a discussion about the future high school,” Boyd said. “This would just not be an immediate need, it was just an opportunity.”
This week the board is expected to make a decision on whether or not to purchase 45-acres of land on Lee Seminary Road for a new elementary school.
