Putnam ACT Testing Happening Saturday

Putnam County Schools will host its first ACT test date of the summer Saturday.

Grades 9-12 Curriculum Supervisor Sharron Anderson said the school system secured enough staff to host and follow the ACT Covid guidelines.

“We had some question initially about that, because the ACT has definitely ramped up their requirements for sites and the number of staff we would have to have available.”

All students who test will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms, encouraged to wear masks and required to sit six feet from one another. Students registered to take an exam may receive a full refund or move to another text location or date.

Anderson said usually juniors take the ACT in the spring then receive a retake option from the state their senior year. This year’s seniors will be taking the ACT for the first time. Anderson said the school system is unsure how the state will handle senior retakes this year.

“I am not sure if the state has plans for a senior retake beyond that or not,” Bussell said. “We have not hard anything, but students can sign up on their own for any ACT testing center throughout the year.”

The June 13th ACT test date was cancelled due to Monterey and Cookeville’s high school graduations. Anderson said the schools system did not have enough staff to proctor the exam. Cookeville High School will host the July 18th ACT.
