Publix Hosting a Job Fair in Cookeville

Publix Super Markets kicked-off a three-day job fair in Cookeville Thursday.

Debra Reid is the Media and Community Relations Manager for Publix.

“We are in the process of looking for some great candidates who are interested in being customer service leaders in the industry,” Reid said.

Publix looks to hire skill and entry-level positions, such as meat cutters, cake decorators, cashiers, and baggers.

The job fair runs through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Clarion Inn.

Reid said opening a location in Cookeville was a perfect fit between its current Nashville and Knoxville markets.

“It just made good business sense to locate a store in an area where we think people would appreciate our customer service model,” Reid said.

Reid said the company values its employees as much as its customers.

“We are employee owned, which means everyone who works for us will earn stock in the company, Reid said. “That’s a part of the model that makes us a successful company.”

Reid said it’s still too early to tell if the store’s Instacart grocery delivery service will be used at the Cookeville location, but added it can be added if needed.

Publix is scheduled to open late September, part of the new Shoppes at Eagle Point complex off Interstate Drive.
